I get consistent lower readings when I use a wrist monitor, but get inconsistent readings when I use an upper arm monitor. Maybe that is because I have more anxiety when using a upper arm monitor.

My wife and I have used both. Mostly, for the last several years I have used the OMRON BP742 upper arm cuff monitor. It has been reasonably accurate against Sams Club BP machines and Dr. office visits. The wrist cuff monitor was more inaccurate (-15 to 20%) for higher pressures (200mmHg). At pressures around 130mmHg it was around 4% inaccurate. You should take your monitor to the doctor's office to check its performance when you have an appointment. Blood pressure readings vary throughout the day due to variety of reasons. It is a challenge to determine what causes the changes, but worth the effort to find what has an effect.

99 percent of nurses and doctors are taking blood pressure wrong anyway. You should be still for 5-15 minutes before taking a reading and be in a quiet setting. Feet should be flat on the floor back against a chair back and arm cuff closest to heart height. Arm should be resting almost straight out on table with palm to the ceiling.

I have a wrist monitor that I've been using for the past year that is more accurate as it inflates similar to an arm monitor - it inflates to around 200mmHg, then deflates to detect the systolic and diastolic rates. The newest one I bought from Walgreens three months ago inflates to when the beat starts and when the beats end, which has resulted in pressures about 10-20 points lower on the systolic and 7-10 points lower on the diastolic. E.g. on my old wrist monitor, I would get 125 over 81, while on the new monitor I would get 110 over 69.

In both monitors, the pulse is accurate (upper 40s to low 50s, due to medication).

I have been using an Omron upper arm monitor for my readings and recently it started having internal malfunctions. I noticed in your video that you mentioned that they tend to break down. Why are they more prone to break?

I have big upper arms and needed to monitor my bp for 7 days, so I bought a Salter wrist oximeter. I'm due back to doctor's next week so it'll be interesting to see if she's happy with the readings.

*UNRELATED VALUE: When getting an eye exam for a new prescription, do it in a fasted state because high blood glucose can throw off eyesight significantly.*

Constantly I show a BP around 120/80 using the analog arm monitor (sphygmomanometer) versus a BP around 180/120 using the digitally operated arm monitor. The choice is clear for me.

How many readings should be taken and which results should taken to get the results if the Omron hem7120 digital blood pressure machine.

*Don't clip the wrist monitor next to your wrist joint if you want real readings.*
Move the cuff 2 to 4 inches away from the wrist joint bones if there's no 'tissue' to squeeze.
The area against the wrist is full of sinews - not muscle - nothing much to squeeze there !
Some people will clearly need a monitor with a longer cuff. Good luck trying to find one though.

Actually upper arm monitors are not accurate in my opinion

Are those digital bp monitor accurate?

Digital monitors are waste of money. I purchased more than 10 Digital monitors but they gave error readings 20 to 30% invariably. Sphygmomanometre is the only reliable monitor
