August is one of my favorite times of year in Athens. The locals leave and it gets quiet making for a surreal experience. I give updates on the fires as well and make an trip to the beach.

I'm from Serbia and for me Greece is generally the most beautiful country to spend a holiday in.

I've been all around the world nothing beats Greece.

Why?
Because no matter what you like to do, Greece has you covered.

If you like nature and hiking - go climb mount Olympus the seat of the gods.

You like cities, lots of people and loud music - Athens is a non-stop assault on all of your senses.

You like history and culture - if you stop your car in the middle of nowhere to take a piss look at your feet - you are probably standing on one of 17 billion archeological sites that are EVERYWHERE you go.
Like at this point they should just change their name to UNESCOland.

And the best part of Greece are the Greeks themselves, I can't tell you how many friends I've made by just asking a random person my age on street for directions and ended up spending the entire day with them running around showing me their part of the world.

I love to travel and I go to a different country every year but the only place where I keep revisiting and falling in love all over again is Greece ❤

Just returned from Athens so was keen to see this, thank you. Wish I had more time there. The sound of the Cicadas was the first thing l noticed. Stayed in the Exarcheia neighbourhood.

The farther away from Athens and the crowded Alimos Glyfada Voula Varkiza the beaches get cleaner. Saronida or Anavyssos and the beaches in between are better ! There is public transport.

We fly into Athens Airport on August 27th to catch a connecting flight later that afternoon to Naxos so hoping the fires are all out by then. The following morning g we will have coffee and cake in one of your favourite cafes - Kitron in Naxos Harbour.

I also sad about fires just wondering how hot it will be there because arrive in athens 28th for 3 days.because im use to australian summers 38 and 40 degrees.
