I had been fighting so hard vs Dvoretsky to understand how to set corresponding squares... you blew my mind so hard when I finally got to understand it that wanted to kiss you, you SOAB!

Thanks! Super useful. I hope I understand correctly: Corresponding Squares are a generalization of the Distant Opposition, which also accounts for squares that the kings can't move to (because they are occupied by a pawn) and pawn moves.

I've been waiting months for this. I caught the stream too far in so I was a bit lost, but I've literally been dying because it looked so practical and interesting. Thanks!

I started Znosko-Borovsky's endings book and needed a little more help with this subject. This video helped alot. Thanks Caleb!

1:00:00 Imagine losing that as black and someone would tell you that Kh5 was a draw. Just too wierd

Thank you for your clear explanation of the technique. Keres in " The Art of the Middlegame " includes one of his adjourned games which viewers may find interesting.

Ah, my favourite endgame theory theme. These complex situations are quite unlikely to occur in a real game, and even if did, I would be quite unlikely to realize it. Still, these positions are purest demonstrations of the beuaty of chess. And studying the first half of this video provides deeper understanding of nature of some common practical pawn endings. Takes you beyond memorization and visualization, to the philosophical level.

I don't see White's win after 1.Kb1 Kg7 2.Kc1 Kg6. The black king stays on g6/g5 as long as the white king moves on the first rank. When the white king goes to the second rank, the black king moves to the corresponding square forcing a draw.

Thats ... i dont say easy but possible if we can draw squares. Can i just draw them on a paper while playing the game?

This is too hard. I .understand that key squares are also determined by tactics. Such as d8 is not a corresponding square because d7 pawn push forces black away from d8. Finding the key squares is pretty easier. Finding the corresponding sqares is confusing
