I grew up feeling the same. I always felt alone, I am 62 now and finally good being alone. I have good friends. My boys are grown with lives of their own. I see them occasionally but don’t really have other family. I am lucky to have several good friends,
Sending prayers and positive thoughts for Brad on his journey.

I've always looked up to the dude, growing up in Springfield everyone has a story about the guy and has something nice to say about either him or his family. I always kind of thought he had it together to the point that he was almost superhuman, a man almost without flaw, but it's cool to know that we've dealt with the same struggle. And really cool that he found an AA meeting that's safe and supportive. The dude is an absolute legend, with a lot of depth.

Good for him for quitting alcohol and smoking. Two drugs that are so encouraged in society, readily available and completely romanticized. So hard to quit! Hope everyone out there who is trying to quit keeps on trying, because for as long as we're trying it's likely still less drugs than if we weren't.
