Cycling New Zealand - South Island Episode 1 - Arthurs Pass to Queenstown.

THIS EPISODE
We flew to New Zealand in July, 2012 to cycle from Arthurs Pass to Queenstown along the west coast. This was the first few days of cycling in full rain to high mountain passes

We used two dslr and 2 gopro for this trip our first trip since our epic trip across Indonesia.

This is brilliant. thank you for sharing it. 25 years ago, I spent 3 months riding my pushbike from Cape Reinga to Invercargill, and then back again. It rained every day. My sympathy goes out to you.

Brilliant video! The exact same thing happened to me at Arthur's Pass. Fortunately I had taken the soft option so I found a campsite with a view and sat in my campervan for two days reading, "A Universe from Nothing" by Lawrence Krauss... a memorable visit!

Great video. Takes me back to 1997. Still have a photo of me at the bottom of that hairpin with the 16% grade sign, looking like a broken man (I got off and pushed the worst of it)

How hard was it to peddle to Arthurs Pass? Surly's are heavy. I am coming to new Zealand in Feb 2020, will be riding a Trek Checlkpoint SL5 with too much stuff.
