Is repentance a prerequisite for salvation? I’ve always heard the maxim “once saved, always saved, ” but it’s hard to believe it can be true without real repentance.

Yes, but Jesus also leaves the 99 sheep to find the 1 who has wandered from the flock. I believed as a child then walked away from him . I rebelled and lived in my sin for 33 years. He brought me back 10 years ago through the death of my son. So be careful when you think someone was not saved. Only God knows a person’s heart.
