The Gripen is one of the most advanced systems in the world, often without comparison. Its electronic warfare suite is state-of-the-art and ahead of most other platforms. Add to that, if it requires upgrades in the future, the platform is modular with separated architecture so you can switch out the entire suite by simply removing the engine and pulling out the entire electronics module. You can basically have a completely new version of this fighter in just a few hours. I'd say it's a lot more innovative than you think.

With the Gripen you forgot that it's designed to be able to land on improvised airfields like long, straight roads and it can be maintained by a small crew out of a truck. So it's still operational even if the enemy has bombed all the airports. This is a quality that literally no other western fighte jet has.

To rank the SAAB Gripen 4th is a testament to ignorance. It shows a lack of understanding the technology, the philosophy and culture of this system and just go for basic information.

1:25 That's a Rafale, not a Mirage 2000

I think you might be underestimating the capabilities of the three European delta-canard fighters. The Meteor missile all three of them can carry makes them more than capable of dealing with anything Russia can throw at them in a BVR scenario, and they can all carry 7 or more of those.
In a 2008 exercise, a Rafale was able to score an F-22 kill in a guns only dogfight, which is still quite impressive.
In a 2006 exercise, 3 Swedish Gripen A's went up against 5 Norwegian F-16's and after 3 rounds the results were 5-0, 5-0 and 5-1 for the Gripens. In another exercise a single Gripen was able to shoot down 2 out of 3 F-15's it had a task of intercepting.
These 3 have significantly lower drag than their contemporaries and quite impressive agility since they were all pretty much designed to counter Flankers and Fulcrums.

Rafale has a marginally lower in T/W ratio 0.01% than a Eurofighter, but it eat 2t less fuel per hour, and 4t in AB per hour, making it the most effective military engine of his range in the world, never forget its the birds staying longer in the sky that wins battles, range weight and weapons load are everything

The UK has 1 Gripen, on wet lease to the Empire Test pilots school. So not used as a combat aircraft.

Speaking about Gripen, Analyst have said that the gripen would be the perfect plane for the Ukraine war. GRipen simply has a different use case. I.e using highways as airstrips, extremely short take off and landing distance. Yes it doesn't have huge range, but it was never designed for it. it was basically design for take off deliver munitions and come back and land on a different field making almost impossible to gain air superiority by bombing airfields. Further more it has a very good situational awareness system which allows for only one plane to pop up and immediately all aircrafts would see the same things allowing them to deliver munitions.
So Gripen is a pure bread defense aircraft.

Analyzing Rafale F1 standard instead of Rafale F4 standard makes your ranking irrelevant.
Rafale is upgradable by design thanks to Dassault editing and mastering Catia.

Just hearing you speak about Gripen in the way you did, means you kinda dont have an idea :l

First get the image for the mirage and the rafale right 😂

Rafale has performed more missions than the Eurofighter, and has proven itself more than capable of doing what it was DESIGNED to do... It also has more operators than the Eurofighter, and while the Eurofighter might seem more capable on paper while being similar to the Rafale in price, foreign air forces tend to always favor Rafale more than the Eurofighter... This is because of the Rafale's capability to perform any mission, any day, very excellently... There's a reason why they call Rafale "the first and only omnirole fighter jet"... Meanwhile, the Typhoon is made primarily for air superiority, but later on integrated with limited ground attack capabilities...

Also, the Gripen should have a higher grade for innovation... Its pretty innovative for its prize... The new Gripen E/F variant (now in operation with Sweden as of this video's publication) is equipped with an IRST and AESA radar, and has an advanced electronic suite... Its radar is actually better than the Rafale's, with 1000 t/r modules as compared to Rafale's 800... Also, the Rafale radar is GaA based while Gripen's is GaN, which is more advanced... The Gripen's radar also has a repositioner, something that Rafale lacks, and it has a 2-way data link capability, again, something that Rafale lacks... Unfortunately, the Gripen E/F is no longer the "budget fighter" that the Gripen once was, with a price tag of around $85million, its now more expensive than both the F16V, and the 2-engined F18E...

But even the budget-friendly Gripen C/D ($40-45million) is pretty innovativr... It too has an advanced radar... Yes, its not an active phased array radar yet, its radar is still pulse doppler, but unlike other pulse doppler radars with mechanically-scanned antennas, the Gripen C/D's pulse-doppler radar has an AESA antenna, making it more efficient and effective... So again, its pretty innovative for its price...

In addition, the Gripen (all variants) is also made of composite materials, and has a reduced radar visibility design (just like the Typhoon), making it both more stealthy and also very lightweight (in fact one of the lightest fighters in the world)... It can also supercruise at Mach 1.2 while being only single-engined... Its also very cheap and very easy to maintain, and in fact only requiring 1 skilled engineer and 2 other unskilled workers to change its engine, and onlt required a short strip of straight highway to operate, making it able to operate even without runways... What other fighter can do that, aside from the Gripen (and the now-outdated MiG-29)?

1:30 into the video i feel like you havent done any research ??? mirage 2000 was a revolution compared to the mirage III and was on point at his time but what is showing that you dont even know what you are talking about is putting a rafale pic on the " "stat card" " that you created

I believe you underestimate the capability of the new SAAB Gripen E. They also call it Gripen NG. Look how it can start from roads and how fast is is turning in the air.

The main operators of the Rafale are not just France and Greece. As compared with the 24 units of Greece (H.A.F.) ( 12 upgraded and used and 12 brand new ), United Arab Emirates have signed an order of 80 aircraft of the upcomming version Rafale-F4, Egypt owns 24 Rafale F3R and has placed an order of 24 additional units and India operates 36 Rafale F3R and recently has chosen the Rafale M to equip its aircraft carriers ( I do not remember the number of units ). Quatar has acquired 24 of them along with 24 Eurofighter-Typhoon and 36 F-15EQ, Croatia is also an operator of the Rafale F3R ( 12 second hand and upgraded units just like the 12 Greek ones ) Indonesia has also placed an order to Dassault ( I do not remember the number of units ). The Rafale was not supposed to conduct air-to-ground operations, whilst the twin-seated Mirage-2000D fulfills this purpose. The Rafale is a nimble high thrust-to-weight ratio aircraft with low wing-load and canards and therefore it boasts about a superb manoeuvreability ( it managed to shoot down an F-22 during an excersise - guns only - that took place in U.A.E. in the year 2008 ) and by the way the French endowed it with additional air-to-ground capabilities as well as superb BVR engagement capabilities that come along with the METEOR missile.

Mirage 2000 is hell of innovation compared to mirage 3, electric flight control, RDY/2 radar, mission computer etc... it's a big step up.

You never mentioned the electronic warfare capabilities of any of the airplanes

kyrkbymannen

Very inaccurate facts. The Mirage-2000 does not belong to the 4+ generation fighters. The production of the aircraft stopped in the year 2009. Recently the air-defence variant Mirage-2000C has been retired from the inventory of Armee de l' Air ( about 130 units ) and only about 80 twin-seated Mirage-2000D are left operational for mainly ground-attack purposes. Of course the production of the aircraft in cause has never reached the number of 600 units as mentioned in the video ( unless you confuse the Mirage-2000 with the earlier model Mirage F1 ).

The scoring image of the mirage 2000 is in fact a Rafale.

Mirage 2000 was a competitor of the f16. It brings the wire controls, so it was a breakthrough for French warplanes.
