Turia Pitt, burn survivor and recipient of skin grafts

Turia Pitt, an elite athlete, former model and mining engineer, was burned over 65 percent of her body when a freak firestorm trapped her and another runner participating in a 100 kilometer ultra-marathon in the Australian outback. Turia received MTF skin to help heal burns.

I was burned 55% of my body when I was 4yrs old ....My dress caught fire...I was in the hospital 3 months with skin grafts and blood transfusions...it didn't reach my face but there is a scar on the back of my neck where it almost did...They let my arm grow down to my sides so I could raise the high...surgery has fixed that..I had a belt that melted around my stomach...Surgery has help that...I have two daughters...I am married to a sweet loving man and I am blessed...The Lord is good...And I truly love how Teria has comes so far in her recovery...

My GF is going through this as well...35 percent of her body is covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns. This gives me hope. And I'm the same as this guy. I'm not going anywhere, I'm going to get my girl through this.

After my mother passed, we were unable to donate any organs (due to medications and her advanced age). But we were able to donate skin. We were comforted for doing this -- Mom was such a generous and loving person, and we knew it was the right thing to do.

She has the best in a partner than anyone can ever ask for. It is sad when someone gets disfigured for life, how quickly they find their partner cannot deal with your scars and walks, so I am beyond happy for er that she found a loyal loving man.
