I've had this moment, but here in America. When he asked me why I was so dark, his mother went to scold him, and I asked her not to. He was sincere and innocent. This was in the 90s, and I worked in a mostly all Polish community. I explained to him why, and he smiled. I truly feel that grace, compassion, and communication help us understand each other, which is the key to more peace in this world. 🙏🏾❤️

This was such a wholesome interaction, he didn't ask the questions in derogatory manner, he just didn't know the answer and wanted to learn. He didn't hesitate to greet the Man ❤

I was born in a small town in Italy in the 1950s and never met anybody who was neither catholic nor Italian untill I went to the University, in the 1970s. I remember very well when I met the first black animist guy from Africa or the first shintoist Japanese. It was very important in my development. I was very curious to know their culture and so were they about Italian culture; accordingly we used to spend hours to ask questions each others.
The Japanese guy was named Masahiro, we became friends. After a couple of years he suddendly died while he was swimming, I still remeber him with affection.
Many years ago the world wasn't so connected as is now; travelling and moreover flying were very expensive, so it was normal to live just in yor neighbourhood. No racism at all
