This Tank Is Hopeless

The American M60 main battle tank has seen innumerable upgrades throughout its lifespan, but one is particularly interesting. The M60 120S or M60 2000 received the turret of an M1 Abrams and an upgraded powerpack. In War Thunder it only has the former, making it incredibly slow and painful to use.

In retrospect I believe a lot of my bad experiences with this thing can be attributed to the general state of top tier, but the lack of mobility really hurts it. Maybe I'll try replaying it sometime.

There was someone explaining how tanks are coded in the game.

"They don't do torque in the game. Ground vehicles are essentially planes with a bunch of gravity drag and counter-friction applied to them..."

Quite literally climbing hills in this game decreases your engine power. I forget specifically how it works, but the basic logic is "More speed = More torque" This is why things like the ITO couldn't climb out of a tiny ass crater because it was slow to accelerate, and therefore had no torque.

fun fact: the saying "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" is pretty universal actually, seeing as horses were supremely important before industrialisation and looking at a horses teeth was a common way to gauge it's health

It honestly looks so cursed, the uncanny valley of looking like an M1. Like a movie studio dressed up an M60 to look like one, like many in the past did with T-34s and T-55s to look like Tigers.

Because Gaijin will always choose the lowest performing variant of a US tank they can.

The T1E1 with the 3" gun instead of the 90mm gun.
The M4 90mm without the HVSS suspension.
The T25 without the stabilizer.
On and on and on.

The amount of times spookston was on the verge of full blown crying from frustration is enough of a review for any vehicle

Not that it really matters at that b.r, but the lower plate is slightly weaker than on the normal M60s. It's slightly less angled, so it can't stop 105 sabot (and some other things) making it unnecessarily more vulnerable against vehicles at a lower b.r
