Why I picked the GoPro Hero 9! + Helmet set up!

After many years avoiding getting a GoPro this is what pushed me to get a GoPro Hero 9!
I also cover how I have set up my helmet to use the GoPro and my audio options.
This is defiantly a video for camera nerds and creators!

Do you pull the adhesive off the mount backing first and then put the Sugru on the sticky... Or do you leave the adhesive sticker/guard ON, and put the Sugru on that ?!

I always preferred the chinmount with my GoPro - better POV in my opinion.
I tried the side mount a few times and being that the GoPro is so wide I'd experience two issues:
1) The GoPro would add drag to one side of my helmet at 40+ MPH
2) It would catch on my jacket wheneven I did a right-side lifesaver/shouldercheck.

Good review of the GoPro 9, I've ordered one and will receive very soon, my only problem is would i have to buy the 'Media Mod' (£89.99) and attach a microphone which i would like to fit inside the bike helmet to reduce wind noise, or do uou have another idea?

I put a gopro mount on my helmet for a cheap camera. If you have a 3d printer there's also a lot of designs available or make your own. The Akasa also came with loads!

The 9 does look good, it's really a shame Gopro are still using that awful brick like audio adapter, it's why I'm still using a Hero 4 black and a cheap adapter sealed through the waterproof housing.
I'm guessing the media mod for the 9 won't be good in the wet?
I swopped to the microphone recommended by Pete at Hippo Drones, best sound I've got so far.

So much faff! lol, good to see I am not alone with the constant messing on trying to find a simple point and click moto vLog camera! GoPro Session 5 with audio jack built in would be my dream, 1080 and 30 frames is enough.

I have bought the all in one case for the gopro adapter on my hero7 and I thought it would be massive (and it kinda is, but not really) BUT it works! Not great to look at but you can take it off when you're not doing a vLog and need the audio, only £10 on fleebay well worth picking one up!

Great info, thanks. Man that first video looks fantastic! Please share your settings on the 9, resolution, fps, wide or superview, all that stuff. Also your render settings cause you somehow get YouTube to look great. Maybe they just like you 🤣

You are so right, the Ghost s was the best in its day but they haven't really moved on. Gopro have gone to develop into a great system.

Great video. What do you do with the mic cable when you don’t have the camera on. With drift it was easy you just tuck the end of the mic cable into the camera mount.

I cannot figure out a way to attach a mount to the front of my Shoei Neotec 2 modular helmet. So I tried a Dango clip on the front, but it will destroy the chin curtain eventually. Next step was to take off the chin curtain, which works, but makes the helmet very drafty, LOL. What if I tried to mount the clip just to the side of dead center, where there is a bit of room? Thoughts? Great video, thanks very much!

Gopro has a case that holds the adapter below the camera itself, much cleaner and all round tidy look. Love the videos matey 🤘🏼

I’ve used Sugru for years. You can remove it from a helmet and leave no scars. Needs a bit of patients and a steady hand is all.

Great review and very interesting as I have just bought a new Hero 9 and am also waiting for the November update to allow the 3.5 mm mic adapter instead of having to buy the media mod which I personally don't like. A BIG thumbs up also.
