To me Zizek always seemed mostly a psychological social critic writing commentary on modern capitalism and how it is becoming more state run. A book from him detailing thoughts on Bataille would be great.

2 thoughts:
Isn't the real appears exactly like, basically, myth, the mythic element? [am reminded of example of grave of two lovers found holding hands their hands held is more 'real' than the rest of the finding etc, zizeks example once]

Isn't the beyond will immortality perpetuation exactly like Buddhist conception of the law of karma. Seems like that to me.

Surely something on Marx too is needed to understand Zizek?

Yeah. if you're going to talk about the "foundations" of Zizek, you'll need to first introduce the basics of Lacan and Hegel. You're starting too advanced.

Zizek, is he the benevolent marxists/socialist "we" all have been waiting for? Just curious. What a joke, imo.
