Ok so we have installed it in RAID1 but what next, what to do when one drive dies or we have multiple errors. Will we be notify and how to recover data?

Yeah... Far from grandma-proof. I'm normally considered a power user (at least a Windows one), but I was so lost through all that.

Is there any way to implement cold spare support? It would be nice to have the option to replace failing drives and rebuild arrays

As a second idea, maybe show how to command line the MDADM method when it's already up and running as most people might go straight to a pre-configured OS and add drives.

I actually did this on my Pi 4 with two SSDs connected via 2 Argon SSD to USB boards. My next project is to use a SATA to m.2 expansion board connected to a pi 5 pcie hat and configure a raid 5 with 5 8TB HDDs. Wish me luck 🤞

You clearly never worked at a helpdesk. I vividly remember this old lady i spoke to and asked her to take place behind her PC.. After minutes of confusion, her redecorating her room she ended up behind her PC... Literally...

Thanks for this video! Can CASA OS be utilized for a R-Pi instead (no need for Debian in this case I would think)? How about running on a R-Pi with OMV running concurrently, or would that be redundant? I have an old Zyxel NAS that is still functional but getting up there in years and am looking at a way to replace it with a better, and newer option.

Just what I've been looking for, I am looking to update my rasp pi with a single hard drive to a micro desktop with raid.

Thanks for this detailed video. I'm planning to create a RAID1 with 2 external SSD connected to an Intel NUC. My doubt is, can I use the inbuild mSATA in intel NUC to install the OS and keep the external SSDs as dedicated RAID drives. If yes please reply how to do that.

Hmm title ist kinda misleading. This is not a guide on how to create a RAID in Casa OS but a tutorial on how to create a RAID in the Debian installer

I wouldn't suggest doing this at all. CasaOS is not going to inform you when there is a failing drive. CasaOS should have array functionality and reporting baked in like TrueNAS or UNRAID. Even though it looks very pretty, the lack of this important functionality is why I refuse to use CasaOS. It is not ready for prime time. Will it even ever have that functionality I wonder. The name is a misnomer as CasaOS is not an actual OS like TrueNAS or UNRAID. It's just a front-end.
