the best decision in comic book movie history was to keep Mysterio's fish bowl

For a guy that didn’t want to kill Peter, he sure tried give him a torturous death.

Making Mysterio essentially use CGI in universe is a true modern adaptation of the character in a perfect way. And this scene is proof of mysterio’s illusions being a force to be reckoned wirh

The part where he acted like nick shot him was actually one of the greatest movie tricks imo

This scene alone is why Mysterio needs to be the sixth member of the Sinister Six. He was easily the most personal villain Tom's Spider-Man.

This scene shows why he is such a good Spider-man villain and why Spider-Man’s villains are the best. They usually are a problem that Peter has to use his genius to find their weakness. I loved this scene.

That one line is so true tho
“It’s easy to fool people when they’re already fooling themselves”

Mysterio wasn’t one of those “broken” villains. He was a truly evil guy that used his powers to torture a kid with no true motive other than he was having fun

This scene was dope. Seriously. They even put a Marvel Zombie reference in it!

Between the fishbowl, the illusions, Mysterio turning into a giant and the voice effects they put on him… This scene was very reminiscent of the early 2000’s Spiderman video game. Brought me directly back to my childhood and it was the absolute most perfect Mysterio experience i could have wished for

"I know this isn't real!"
"Do you?"

Perfect update of Mysterio's modus operandi and the threat he poses. Also, I LOVE that version of his costume that's just the mocap suit with the classic bubblehead HUD. Perfect outfit for a puppetmaster pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Imagine if this Spider-Man movie wasn’t in the mcu and mysterio would be like “If you were good enough, Maybe Uncle Ben would still be alive

It's crazy to think that without Mysterio, we wouldn't have gotten No Way Home. Even after his death, he made sure he left an impact.

This is basically gaslighting on steroids

The thing I love about this scene is that it’s actually a smart way of the villain getting rid of the hero for a while. Beck knew he couldn’t hurt Peter himself so he gets him to unknowingly walk into something that will at least take Peter out for a short bit, that being the HST

It hits so hard "if you were good enough maybe tony would still be alive" like f*ck

"If you were good enough, maybe Tony would still be alive."

*THAT* was a low blow.

Imagine how funny it would be to be beck and seeing peter go nuts

Far From Home's Mysterio, IMO, is one of the best comic-to-film translations for any CBM villain. Some villains are better acted and better written, but the way Marvel was able to seamlessly recreate Mysterio's look, abilities, and motivation in the MCU that's 100% faithful to the comics AND believable in this universe is just so impressive. This entire sequence really showcases this.

For anyone wondering why Ben Parker wasn't mentioned here.... how would Mysterio even know who he is or how he died in the first place? Peter might've given him his secret identity but he didn't give him his backstory. Remember, he's an illusionist, not a psychic.
