Golden Dawn members sentenced over 2013 murder

A member of the far-right Golden Dawn party has been handed a life sentence for the 2013 murder of a rapper.
Yiorgos Roupakias was found guilty of the murder. Other senior members of the group were also given jail terms.
That includes the head of Golden Dawn, Nikos Mihaloliakos, who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The group is now considered a criminal organisation.

So let me get this straight, they were able to track down the man who allegedly belonged to GD who allegedly killed a rapper, but they couldn’t trace the ones who killed a member of GD ten years prior to that? Seems to me like this a politically trumped up charge.

Getting jail time for being in a legal party till the judgment is total BS. Being a nationalist is the crime and your next.

The fate of Golden Dawn depended on the acceptance of one of the following two scenarios.

1. An innocent Golden Dawn member accepts the criminal organization's order to kill a strong man, risking his life using a knife instead of a pistol, on a busy street, alone, without a hood, using his own car to be easily identified, and then waits to be arrested to live 50 years in prison voluntarily instead of leaving, with natural consequence of voluntarily destroying Golden Dawn.

2. The Golden Dawn member claimed to have been threatened by the victim and decided to defend himself with a knife.

The judges convicted Golden Dawn because they were convinced that the first scenario was true, except for a prosecutor who believed the second scenario and only seeks the conviction of the murderer. It seems that common sense is very rare.
