IMO they should only go to places they've already been to. We have enough olympic venues in ruin.

You guys should make videos on the master/long-term plans of various popular resorts. Would love to not only see what they have planned, but also to hear your analyses. Great video as always

I would love to see a rail system connecting downtown SLC and possibly the airport with the ski resorts. It would be a game changer. We need to catch up with the superior European system of doing things

Snowbasin will have all the alpine events this time. Also, no way they put a 40-60 person team to Allen Peak, absolutely no need for that, limited skiable terrain up there that can’t handle that kind of capacity. Last time, they put a temporary rope tow to get the women to the starting house, I imagine they’ll do something similar again.

Utah Transit Authority came out recently with their 2034 plans. Sadly, no projects oriented towards canyon service. However, they do want to build a direct service from the airport to the village. High Valley Transit which is an agency more around the Park City area. Wants to build bus lanes for buses coming from Salt Lake to Park City

Public transport for skiing can be incredible! I went skiing in Japan. From Tokyo I took a bullet train right to the base of the ski resort. If we had a network of trains to arrive at ski resorts that would be amazing.

No little cottonwood canyon gondola button!

Yes! We definitely need improved and expanded public transit infrastructure to better host the world and serve those who live here long term. SLC and and the State of Utah should get on board and publicly endorse the citizen proposed Rio Grande Plan. It has so many benefits to it that will contribute towards a more sustainable future for our rapidly growing region. Lets use the momentum the returning Olympics will bring to improve our communities!

I spoke to a patroller today about opening Carpenter since they added Regulator to the front side trails as it would thin the herd on Tuesdays and Weekends. He said it's so old and unreliable that they only run it periodically and only in the winter. :(

Also, F the gondola.

What Utah really needs is.... more resorts. Our current resorts are getting too crowded.

Another enormous thing that Snowbird may do is an expansion to Mary Ellen Gulch, which would involve a tram to the Western Twin Peak (I believe the top of Pipeline begins from here) from Lone Peak as well as a lift up to the Sunday Saddle (at the top of the Bookends in Mineral Basin) out of Mary Ellen Gulch!

Given the infrastructure that SLC built up from 2002, I’m so excited to see what comes out of 2034. There’s a lot of NIMBYs against the games but I’m hopeful they won’t get a chance to block it. Would be awesome to see the Olympics back in SLC.

The LCC gondola sucks, we just need buses & snow sheds (overhead roofing under the avy slide paths that are widely used in Europe)

Deer Valley will not host the Slalom. All Alpine skiing events will be hosted at Snowbasin!

i think the most reasonable way to go about the canyons is to just maximize busses
LCC is 3 lanes most of the way up, if not the whole way up
close off 1 lane, turn it into a bus lane, and leave the other two lanes for up/down
and just shove busses up there

some people also proposed connecting the road from LCC to BCC but i don't see a viable way to do that

gondola is cool and flashy, but dumb

Make mega resort with LCC BCC and PC improvements in transportation are definitely needed not enough parking in park city or room for that more traffic.

If maintained this could eliminate the need (and expense) for new venues. Winter Olympic bids could alternate between SLC and Lake Placid if it was still viable. Sorry Squaw Valley, you were the best.

lotta great points for discussion and debate... i don't know about adding capacity to allen peak.... that little single file catwalk with switchbacks is treacherous enough with the dozen or so folks trying to make their way down it without slamming or sliding into the person in front of them. also just need more busses and add avalanche sheds for LCC. even though they did cut service, UTA had busses on standby so it was much better this year getting folks up and down both canyons.

Something important to note on the environmental sustainability front is that Snowbird recently finished a Geothermal power plant that supplies all the power to the resort. Pretty cool! It's located at the superior lot next to the fire station.
