PG&E announced Friday it would pay out $13.5 billion in claims related to the Camp Fire, 2015 Butte Fire and the 2016 Ghost Ship Fire in Oakland.

Take note. The new tax code treats awards from litigation or insurance payments for disaster loss much differently than the past. Much of the money may be subject to taxation. Consult an accountant/tax specialist on what choices may be available to you before spending.

So homeowners insurance gets the money from PG&E I am assuming? I thought bankruptcy generally only pays a few cents on the dollar of how much they owe unless they do the liquidation version like ToysRUs. Imagine if they did that, sell all the power lines, vehicles, equipment out of the power plants. They should do that then see what happens, everyone with no power would be hillarious.
