I agree, friend. It succumbs to so much contrived formula, so fast, I roll my eyes as they set up each character’s unlikely ego trip or hot take, as if we’re supposed to be surprised when it all caves in on itself in the least organic ways possible. For a show that’s supposed to be so smart there’s so much forced wackiness and uninspired slapstick. To me Season 1 is the only solid season and it becomes unwatchable to me after Season Two. And I am a huge fan of Seinfeld’s stand up. Larry David / Seinfeld is NOT funnier than Jerry Seinfeld himself. And it’s not a show about nothing, it’s clearly about modern upper middle class narcissism; saying it’s about nothing is a cop out to excuse what a shallow portrayal it is, with so little to say.

I'd say Friends is the most overrated sitcom tbh. Seinfeld is genius, the best sitcom of all time.
