Cool stuff Mike. I'm with Morgan. The thought of going into one of those old mines would freak me out. Love the history though. :-)

The breaker for number 9. The mine u are at was on the opposite side of dock street. All those buildings and foundations were steam house. Boiler plant. Power house and the drum drives for the elevator shaft. Other where pump houses for water extraction of the lower three levels of #9. The dynamite/ powder house is next to the mine entrance

That was the old fan house... ventilation shaft for the mine.
The paths you were crossing were not donkey paths ... as the used mules in these mines... a lot of the paths were created by trucks during the post underground mining when they switched to strip mining in the area... or were created by area dirt bike and ATV enthusiasts.

I try to look for stuff like this in lansford but its hard to look up online. I just moved to the area

mining in this area started mid 1800, this is probably 1890 to 1930?
