Was not happy with this album, but the good thing about Toro y Moi is that even if you don’t like one thing he puts out, it’s entirely possible his next one will be your favorite

It's crazy how many people I talk to that say Toro y Moi basically shaped their entire musical taste. Heard him for the first time in college, been a fan ever since.

I will say -- I AM the audience. I think there is definitely space for this type of music with more emotive/substantial themes. I don't know if Chaz achieved that on this record per se, but I am not mad at it all.

Really enjoyed quite a few tracks, if not all the whole album.

My favorite thing about this album is how he can understand and points out the similarities between all the featured artists. Don Toliver, Kenny Mason, Kevin Abstract, Porches, Glaive, Ben Gibbard all have a subtle through-line, and as a fan of all those artists I'm glad someone else sees it.

Hole Erth felt like the more refined and less edgy version of his album Soul Trash (2019). Hole Erth is good, but Soul Trash feels much more exciting and interesting from front to back. Highly recommend if you like this side of Chaz.

I can always find a handful of tracks on even my least favorite TYM albums. I don’t love this one but I still walked away with a good 5 tracks that I wouldn’t skip on shuffle.

Honestly, Toro changes so much from project to project that I don’t really care about the quality; I really appreciate his love of music and exploring sounds/genres. I didn’t really dig this album, but outer peace was friggin legendary.

One of the percussionists regularly associated with Toro Y Moi released a really solid album this summer - Brijean - “Macro”. Really well produced psychedelic disco album

Day one Chaz fan, I've been listening to his stuff since Causers. His albums are so hit or miss for me, but always interesting and worth many listens. This Hole Erth came out of left field for me, but I'm so into it. It's at times weird and cheesy, but it's exactly what I want right now.

I wasn’t that surprised Chaz went in this direction. He’s done emo/pop-punk sounding songs before, and he was a producer on one of Travis Scott’s albums.

I really enjoyed this album, I felt like it was a mature version of emo trap if that makes sense. Like the stuff he is complaining about I relate to now as someone in my late 20s. II feel like I am the exact audience for this a zillenial who grew up smack dab in the middle of the 2000s inspiration he takes from but also right after the emo trap genre popped off id that makes sense. I liked every song except off road

I reallly agree specially with the fact that this album does leave you wondering who in Toro y Moi's audience wanted it, at the same time his audience me included love how often he experiments with other genres. Lovely review team
