Full Suspension Gravel Bike - Niner's Magic Carpet Ride

We first spotted Niner’s full suspension gravel concept bike at last year’s Sea Otter expo. The company cobbled together its RKT 9 cross-country frame with dropbars and other gravel bits. At this year’s show, Niner showed off a pre-production full suspension gravel bike that’s much more refined. The Colorado-based company plans to begin production in 2019.

Next year 2, 2" tyres, year 2020 straight bars, coil 100mm suspension, year 2021 longer, lower, slacker geometry, 2022 truly versatile bike, that a gravel claims to be....called MTB

Why does everyone complain that this is too much like a mountain bike? You don't have to buy it if you would rather a mountain bike, or a ridged fork bike, this is simply filling a gap to give people more options, so can only be a good thing.

And besides, there are definitely some descents that I've done on a gravel bike that I wish I'd had suspension for, but still want that gravel bike feel.

I wouldn't bother with the dropper post and def go 1x, but this looks awesome!

Senior citizen here. Full suspension means a comfortable ride giving you more energy at the end of a ride. Not beaten up. The absolutely clean and minimalism of materials.
I'd be riding green gravel routes, easy, and a lot of roads, especially hill climbs. Hill climbs like the 5k of Old Donner pass road, truckee CA USA.
On the road you won't notice the full suspension but your body will thank you with " let's do this again".
Motocross riders are full suspension!
Love your concept.

Despite the comment section this bike will be the perfect fit for someone and for certain situations. It was simply just a matter of time before we saw a full suspension gravel bike. Personally I love the geometry of a road bike over the mountain bike and getting the utility this could provide is a plus for the bike world. Just embrace the joy of riding.

They should add the Canyon double-decker-wrist-breaker bars to reach #peakgravel...

Looks perfect for these Colorado trails that you just wanna crank. There's always a trail out there that's the sweet spot.

no thoughts needed. sign me up. complain as they might, but do a long ride in gravel and tell me a little cushion wouldn't help make the ride more enjoyable.

A mountainbike with drops just like John Tomac rode back in the day!

They should develop a gravel bike for bike touring (especially for those who also like to ride on the back roads of states or foreign countries); three water bottle cage mounts, rear rack and front fork rack mounts. Dual suspension makes riding that much more comfortable although speed is being sacrificed. However, bike touring is not a race and the majority of bike tourists average about 10-12mph.

I like the concept. The more choices we have the better.

Looks perfect for mixed terrain rides that include some single track. Less fidgeting with tire pressure and more off road capable with out loss of aero position!

I think gravel bikes are the way to go. They combine XC hardtails and road bikes so the gravel bike to me is more like a do-it-all-bike than some kind of niche.

Definitely going to get some odd remarks and looks, but I’d LOVE this on washboard sections.
