I like that he doesn’t make fun of anyone and just explains etymology in a fun way

Yet another episode of “The English invented it, changed their mind, and then got mad at Americans for sticking to it.”
This happened far too often lol.

This man is so sarcastic he doesn't mock anyone in particular, but reality itself.

I love this guy's series. British guy says that Americans aren't assholes for saying a different word and proves it wasn't our fault. Great guy .

You know man I was born in NYC to British immigrant parents in the 90s and you explaining all these differences in terminology/culture is really connecting a lot of dots for me that i never before had. Its always been kind of lonely, so I appreciate these shorts. Thanks for what you do :)

Honestly, Alumium actually seems to make the most sense, especially since aluminum salts are usually called Alum, and have been used for thousands of years.

He found it, why wasn’t he allowed to call it whatever he wanted? 🤷‍♂️

Can I just say I will never get tired of your videos. I love the awkward stares and monotone voice.

It was some Europeans that objected to "alumium" - snobs.
Then, when Davies changed it to "aluminum", some toff in Wiltshire (who wasn't even a scientist) had a nosebleed and insisted on "aluminium".
Davy didn't care. He had more important things to do with his time.
BTW, "aluminum" and "aluminium" are both considered acceptable spellings by the IUPAC.

I feel like the plot twist of this series is that Americans are always more accurate about the pronunciation of many things

I never knew Brits spelled it differently. I just thought it was another crazy pronunciation thing.
