I'm wondering a few things: Being of some kind of rubbery/plastic material, wouldn't these have a more limited resonance than their wooden counterparts? - Something sounds a little "muted" or soft here, but I don't know if it's the blocks themselves or if it's the mallets used. - So, would they have a somewhat brighter/harder sound (on the actual impact/transient) if harder tips were used?

That's a weird tuning. Took me a little while to figure out, but these notes combined form a half diminished chord. Why not a major or minor? Or perhaps the manufacturer was not very concerned with tuning...
