Symptoms of being raised by a narcissistic parent can manifest in a variety of ways, all stemming from a deep-rooted sense of inadequacy and a lack of trust in others. A child raised by a narcissistic parent may find themselves repeatedly let down by broken promises, leading to a sense of not feeling enough or knowing who to trust.

Furthermore, a child whose needs are continually ignored learns to stop asking for help, internalising the belief that their needs are not important. This can lead to feelings of isolation and a reluctance to rely on others for support.

Emotional neglect is another common trait of narcissistic parenting, with a child's feelings being dismissed, mocked, or downplayed. As a result, the child may learn to stop sharing their emotions or may overshare with anyone who shows an interest, seeking validation that was lacking in their upbringing.

Gaslighting, belittling, and constant criticism can also take a toll on a child raised by a narcissistic parent, leading to feelings of inadequacy and a lack of confidence in decision-making. These repeated negative experiences can cause anxiety and a tendency to withdraw from social interactions as the child struggles to navigate relationships and trust their own feelings and perceptions.

In conclusion, the symptoms of being raised by a narcissistic parent can have a lasting impact on a child's emotional well-being and their ability to form healthy relationships in the future. It is important for individuals who have experienced this type of upbringing to seek therapy and support in order to heal from their past trauma.

That's exactly how it feels. Everything changes once you heal from narcissistic abuse. The quality of life begins to improve immensely.

This is me...I'm that little girl.
Except I'm 56 now & still struggling. My mother is a heinous, envious wretch. To me at least.
Almost 3.5 yrs no contact. I will never, EVER let her back in my life!!
Bonus: She lives literally 2 miles from me and HAS to pass my home when she goes into town. The way she spins her head around to see if she can catch even a glimpse into my life, I'm kinda scared she may cause an accident lol

Welp what my bf kids mother is doing this exact thing to their daughter is clearly not loved, and now can't even have a good relationship with her father because of this very thing and he isn't even the narcissistic parent she's too scared to talk to her own father because she's too worried about what mom will think? 🚩
