Jaguar has taken a bold step into its electric future with the unveiling of the Type 00 Concept, a stunning representation of the brand’s vision for all-electric luxury. Making its first appearance at Miami Art Week, this debut was no accident. Jaguar strategically chose the prestigious art festival to showcase the concept, aligning it with the brand’s commitment to creativity and innovation.

Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s Managing Director, explained the significance of the venue: “Our participation in Miami Art Week underscores Jaguar’s dedication to championing art and creativity in every form. Art resonates deeply with our future clients, and this event allows us to engage with them directly in an authentic and meaningful way.”

The Type 00 Concept—pronounced Zero-Zero—redefines minimalism while drawing inspiration from Jaguar’s storied past. The car’s elongated hood flows seamlessly into a sleek fastback design. Up front, simplicity reigns with ultra-thin headlights positioned both high and low, framing a subtle rectangular grille integrated into the bodywork. The sides are muscular and geometric, reminiscent of the design elements seen on the fourth-generation Range Rover, while brass accents house retractable rear-facing cameras, replacing traditional side mirrors.

In an unexpected twist, the Type 00 eliminates a rear window altogether. Instead, Jaguar introduces what it calls a "pantograph tailgate," which grants access to a rear cargo shelf. The rear of the vehicle features full-width taillights integrated into a rectangular grille design, while butterfly doors open dramatically to reveal the interior.

The cabin is where Jaguar’s new design philosophy, termed "Exuberant Modernism," truly shines. The interior strips away traditional opulence in favor of avant-garde minimalism. The flat front seats are divided by a striking brass spine, which also supports rotating screens that rise from the dashboard. Jaguar has foregone visible dials and controls, opting for this futuristic approach to functionality.

Perhaps the most unconventional element of the interior is the choice of materials. A wool-blend fabric inspired by handwoven yarns is complemented by travertine stone—a material typically associated with architecture, not automobiles. These daring choices reflect Jaguar’s ambition to break the mold and embrace its artistic identity.

Details about the vehicle’s mechanical components remain limited. The Type 00 Concept is built on Jaguar’s new JEA platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. While specifics on the powertrain are unavailable, Jaguar has promised an ambitious target: an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated range of 430 miles and the ability to recharge 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes with a high-speed charger.

The Type 00 Concept serves as a preview for Jaguar’s first electric production vehicle, a four-door grand tourer expected to debut in late 2025. Spy photographs suggest a sleek design similar to the concept, although heavy camouflage obscures the finer details.

Adrian Mardell, Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover, captured the essence of this transformation: “Jaguar’s heritage is unmatched, and we are recapturing the magic that made icons like the E-Type unforgettable. Our goal is to evoke the same sense of wonder and admiration in this new era of Jaguar.”

As Jaguar steps confidently into its electric future, the Type 00 Concept signals a new chapter of elegance, innovation, and artistry.

Baby blue and pink are quite a statement if you want to sell to rappers and pimps.
It just gets worse for jaguar watching a brand die so quickly is horrendous.

It wouldn't hurt one bit if "fearless creativity" was also competent design.

00 is the amount of time it took to design the new Brand/Logo. 00 is also the amount of sales they will get.

The only positive thing about this design is the stance, outside that it doesn't look like a Jag, it's generic, the full oposite of "copy nothing". The wheels look they came out from a Range Rover and the headlights from a Audi.

Put it next to an e type or an xjs and it looks like it's been designed by a gcse student. He's having to explain the design. Not good.

I’m the kind of person who has stood by BMW through some of their most controversial design choices, but this Jaguar is indefensible! It’s nothing short of an affront to good taste—an outright abomination.

Air resistance: "Am I joke to you??"
Car's range: "Apparently you are, so I will have to be also..."
Design and style: I can lick my eyeballs!! I'm a tree!! ROCKS!! I like rocks!!"

Close to zero clearance underneath, what about potholes, bright pink rocks, not flat driveways or road trash? This car would not make it up my driveway without bottoming out, probably damaging the battery creating a massive fire hazard.

His voice lacks any excitement, pride, sense of achievement. His delivery is flat and the words are a pastiche. I loved my Jag XK because it put a smile on my face. This pink brick is totally unattractive. BORING and worse than marmite
