I guess I'm doing compilations of celebrity caricatures/references in Looney Tunes now. Tell me if you want more of this but it'll be less prioritized than the regular compilations.

I'm kind of too lazy to introduce Colonna, so I'll link another source in the comment to give you a proper introduction as well as a video that inspired this one and includes clips from other, non-Looney Tunes cartoons that reference him.

0:00 Greetings, Bait!
0:21 The Wise-Quacking Duck
0:37 Detouring America
0:52 The Wacky Worm
1:38 Bars and Stripes Forever
2:22 Prehistoric Porky
2:37 The Unruly Hare
2:51 What's Cookin', Doc?
2:55 The Ducktators
3:07 Daffy Doodles
3:17 The Wacky Worm (again)
3:34 Hollywood Canine Canteen
3:40 Hollywood Steps Out
3:49 Farm Frolics
3:56 Scalp Trouble
4:05 Slightly Daffy
4:13 Little Blabbermouse
4:15 Porky's Last Stand
4:27 The Hep Cat
4:36 Plane Daffy
4:45 Gopher Goofy
4:50 Booby Traps
5:03 The Hep Cat (again)
5:11 Behind the Meat-Ball
5:16 Greetings, Bait! (again)
--------------------------------------
To be specific on what's being referenced [I'm basing this on what the Looney Tunes wiki says, so sorry if anything's wrong]
(0:00, 3:56, 4:05, 4:15 reference his 'Greetings, Gate!' catchprase)
(0:21, 0:37, 0:52, 2:37, 2:51, 2:55, 3:07, 3:17, 3:34, 3:40, 5:16 are vocal/visual imitations of him)
(0:52, 1:38, 2:22 reference his singing style)
(3:44, 3:49 reference his 'Who's Yehoodi?' catchphrase)
(4:27, 4:36, 4:45, 4:55 reference his 'Something new has been added' catchphrase)
(5:03, 5:11 reference his 'Well, I can dream, can't I' catchphrase)

Fuck.

“Ah, no bumps… we make some!”

The line delivery by Mel Blanc and the animation is what makes this my favorite Daffy moment of all time!

I remember seeing these as a kid in the 80's and having to ask my mom why so many looney tunes had that weird guy with the mustache in them, and she explained he was an old tv comedian.

Fun Fact: Jerry Colonna was the voice actor for The March Hare in Disney's Alice in Wonderland

I like this idea, i feel like a lot of modern viewers don't get the old pop culture references in these cartoons, so this might help. 👍🏻

I love the elegant simplicity of some of Looney Tunes.

I have no idea who this guy is supposed to be, no idea what a cow puncher is, and then the way he's doing it doesn't seem right at all. AND THEN HE JUST BASICALLY ADMITS HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING EITHER! And I just bust a gut at the absurdity of it all.

Don’t forget the one from Tex Avery’s “Who Killed Who?”
“AHHHH, YES! Quite a bunch of us, isn’t it?”

Looney Tunes can serve as a pop culture time capsule.

I know this is a bit late, but I'm loving these celebrity compilations as well as the songs. It makes it SO much easier to understand where references are coming from!!!

I never knew who Mr Colonna was, but the scenes had me dying as a kid I remember that. The idea that these guys would break out into song.

This makes me want to find all the old
Comedy bits they took these from, especially “Ahhh!! Something new has been added!”

You forgot the Bugs Bunny Magician Episode where he said “On the Contrary! I got you!” In a Jerry Colonna-Type Voice.

Do you think when he went on his honeymoon, the first thing Jerry Colonna said to his wife was "Greetings, Gate! Let's consummate!"
