Very informative. Just a quick correction: the Texas red-crowned parrot population is actually not feral. South Texas is part of the species' geographical range, and the redcrowns found in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of south Texas come from natural distribution. The US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department recognize the red-crowned parrot as native in Texas.

Most pets are captive born now days. Even in Mexico they are rarely available in the illicit market. Habitat destruction is its biggest threat.
