(56:20) Subnautica - Glitchless Survival Speedrun (Former WR)

Wow! I never thought I could get a time this low.
This run had a slow start but then everything kept going extremely well afterwards.
By coincidence, this was run on 12/12/2022, a day before the new update dropped.

** Note this was run on the version before the December 2022 update. This version had no unstuck command, table coral split into multiple, and faster jump speed among other differences. **

This was a much lighter grind than previous runs. I just wanted to have some fun trying out a new base placement and some little strategy adjustments. But after the 9:30 rad warning the luck just never stopped coming.

If you're wondering why the shallows split is so far behind, I moved some of the scrap gathering and crafting from the end of the run to the beginning. That time lost at the beginning is saved at the end.

** FAQ: **
Q: How do you break rocks so fast?
A: I use my mouse's scroll wheel which I set to have the same action as left-click in the game settings. The same applies to right-click.

Q: How do you skip the intro?
A: Hold escape when it asks you to press a button to continue. If you're on console, it will be a console-specific button instead.

Q: Why doesn't your food level drop?
A: If you eat while your food level is below 100, it can go above 100. The level constantly drops but the visual doesn't move as long as it's 100 or above.

Q: How did you enter that wreck without glitching?
A: The opening to the wreck with the laser cutter fragments is passable until the Aurora explodes. Before then, we can go through without clipping or glitching.

Q: How did you descend through the Lost River without a vehicle?
A: 2 high-capacity oxygen tanks, 1 standard oxygen tank, and lots of practice. Don't bother with this if you're a new speedrunner since it saves less than 30 seconds over the standard method of making a base to die and respawn with full oxygen.

Q: Why do you build empty bases / deconstruct the hatch?
A: Entering a base saves the inventory so it's not lost when I die. If I don't want to respawn at that base I deconstruct the hatch.

Q: How do you know when the Aurora is going to explode?
A: The first radiation warning you get from your PDA happens between 9:12 and 16:00 after the start of the game. Multiply that time by 5x to get when the explosion will happen.

Q: Why do you build the Cyclops?
A: The Cyclops is the only place you can build the shield generator needed to finish the rocket. The Cyclops has no other purpose in this run.

idk about you guys, but i find glitchless to be more impressive. I mean yea some games have really hard glitches, but speedrunning a game glitchless is a whole other beast.

Edit: wow there's a war in the replies, let me just say this. Im already scared of the ocean (im 20 yes) so an immersive game like this does scare me and im not ashamed of that fact, im also aware that its a video game and not real
