Flower Structures and Functions | Insect Pollinated Flowers

Insect-pollinated flowering plants have the following main structures:
A stamen (comprised of the anther and filament
A carpel (comprised of the stigma, style, ovary and ovules)
Petals
Nectaries
Sepals
A stem
A receptacle

The functions of each structure is outlined here.

Few extra terms that are important for botanical knowledge of a flower.
-Corolla, this is all the petals classified under one name. this does not include any reproductive structures though.
-Pistol, this is the Stigma and style but not the ovary or ovules. (all together that is the carpel)
-Pedicle: small stalk that holds up the flower, this is Latin for small foot.

-Sepals, also called calyx, these "leaves" (modified), can be above, below or in parallel with the receptacle. This is important for proper plant identification, it also tells you how the fruit will end up looking, think apple, that little bottom part with the little tuft, that's the remaining calyx or sepals. Apples also aren't true fruits but that's a longer conversation.
Also the number of stamen on a flower, for diagrams we should be accurate on what type of flower anatomy is being shown; here it looks like its supposed to be a lily of sorts, in which case it should have 3 stamens on either side of the pistol (carpel) and a total number of 6 petals.
This stamen and petal number also will determine if the plant is dicot or monocot. For example the seed, think corn seed vs bean; corn has only one part and a bean has two parts; very very simplified way of explaining monocot vs dicot.
