In this video, I’ll talk about streamers! Oh wait, not gaming streamers but music hardware streamers!

This, my friends, is the WiiM Mini which costs only about RM499 / USD99, and apparently this is becoming a favorite compared to this Bluesound NODE that costs RM2899 / USD599.

Well, let's find out if the WiiM Mini is bigger than we think it is?

I can agree with few comments below, I tried Node and Primare Prisma and then Wiim, all streamers were connected to external dac (first two coaxs and optical with Wiim), there was zero difference in sound quality or sound profile, all played identical and all apps worked flawless, but when I saw how many music services Wiim support including even Soundcloud I sold Node and Prisma asap... and now they will release on december 15 Wiim Mini Pro version :)

Nope the digital output is bit perfect.... so you can have a 24/192 output for an external DAC ;-)

Vote's on the mini - does the job well with a minimalist design 👍

I have a node. And i choose it because of the hdmi earc.

But when i plug ig to a tv via hdmi earc the volume droped by alot!!

No eq as well.
Wiim have 10 band eq!

And the connection is NOT STABLE AT ALL!!

If any of u guys planing to buy a NODE and connect it to a tv and soundbar, just dont.

Big disapointment.

Mini is great for a secondary garage system! 👍🏻🔈 Bluesound for your primary system.

Imo if you use the Wiim Mini just as a streamer then it is hard to beat. They roll out software updates regularly and add lots of features. Also the app is very intuitive and works well. The built in dac is kind of crap though imo. So if you use the optical out to a quality Dac, it's great.

Well, obviously the WiiM Mini's cheap built-in TI DAC and implementation can't be as good as the Node, but if you are planning on using a "better" external DAC anyway it would seem the WiiM Mini is the cost-effective way to go. I mean, the DAC inside the Node isn't "bad", but it seems about 60% or so of the people who own one end up buying a DAC in the $500 to $1500 range and not using the one in the Node. If that is your plan, then it seems dumb to pay for something you won't be using. Now, everyone talks about "jitter" and would the cheap Mini have worse jitter than the Node? Maybe. But then most DACs have their own built-in buffer and clock so all data gets sequenced properly even if it has a little jitter when it comes into the buffer, so it might be a moot point.

I own a WiiM..I've also had a Node as well as a more expensive streamer. With inputs/outputs and build quality the WiiM is outclassed by most everything. But with toslink out the WiiM is bit perfect, and can basically sound as good as the dac you choose to pair it with. Their Home app is as good or better than most others. I haven't found one that I really like..so they are all the same to me. I did notice a little distortion at high volumes with the WiiM, others I talked to didn't have this issue but I used an old Ipad switching power supply adapter I had laying around and now it plays super clean and quiet. Using the Toslink output into a good dac and I think it's a great device for just streaming music from a paid streaming service. I only use the WiiM now for all my streaming needs, I am extremely satisfied. You don't have to spend hundreds or thousands for quality hi res music streaming. People that use laptops or computers already knew this though lol

As a fan of physical media, I'm just getting into streaming. Got a WiiM Mini on the way.

I'm sure it's a great device for people who are new into streaming, like myself, or have moderate to low-end systems.

Node is for people who have really good sound systems or that know that streaming is their main source of musical enjoyment. Either way, you can't go wrong.

and the Wiim Mini is now MQA thanks to its last update ! A new Wiim Pro will also be released soon.... Certainly a Node Killer...

I was streaming Amazon prime from an iPad to Audioquest Cobalt DAC into Audioquest 3.5mm to RCA interconnect to my McIntosh c50 preamp. It sounded good, but I hated the cable on the floor, and the DAC dangling from the iPad.Then I introduced a WiiM mini with optical into the McIntosh c50 built in DAC. Wow great sound, eliminated the RCA cable off the floor, and kept the iPad as the remote. I really see no need to find a better streamer at this time. I am looking for a better DAC, but at this time I would have to spend more than 3K to top the DAC in the c50. The WiiM is crazy good!

I will go for the mini for its portability but who knows what the future holds as the blue node is suitable for those who have an audio system at home...🤔🤔🤔

The mojo plus mini also costs more than $250 than the node... At that point I might as well buy the node.

Very entertaining video! This is the first of your videos I've watched. I want both. A Wiim for right now and a Bluesound later after I have the cash.

What the *uck! I laugh. But, seriously, I found the mini sounds a bit soft, not as dynamic, as I like compared to the iFi Zen Stream. Stereophile commented the same. But it has nice proposition for the price point.

Thank you for this overview. I am a simple guy and kind of slow with all things electronics. Here's my question:

I have a pair of Sonos Ones and a Sonos Sub Mini, and I use AirPlay 2 (not the Sonos app) to stream music and podcasts. *All I want to do is add my home stereo setup to AirPlay so that I can have synced whole-house audio.* Will this device (or the Pro) get me there? Thanks.

Hi, Great review, but i would to say effectively if the wiim can send amazon music HD to external dac by toslink at 192khz

The Wiim is great for someone who has a good dedicated DAC and wants to add wireless connection and turn their DAC into a streamer.
