It was love at first sight. Ansel and Violetta met at the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Komyshan’s family came to the United States from Ukraine when she was young. At age 11, she was chosen to train free in Manhattan in a building shared with American Ballet Theatre. So, her love for dance and ballet started when she was a little girl. Elgort was studying drama and was dreaming of becoming an actor, although he tried to study ballet too. They were young, in love and ambitious and went to their goals together, supporting each other. Later, Ansel used to say that having a girlfriend from when he was an unknown was very comforting for him. However, two years after having a tender and sweet relationship, the couple called it quits largely due to Elgort’s very busy schedule and not enough time for his beloved. In January 2015, after five months of separation, Ansel and Violetta got back together. It was a test of their relationship, and they seemed to pass it. Since then, the couple was trying to spend as much time as possible together. The two were just inseparable: they turned up courtside at basketball games, smooched on red carpets, and weren’t shy about proclaiming their love for each other. Also, Komysha is very close with his family. She has known them since the youth and feels like a complete part of the family. Even after eight years, these two seem just as in love now as they were in 2012. All fans of the couple are very happy for them and are waiting for good news about their engagement and wedding.

During the short breakup with Komyshan, it was rumored that there was something more than just friendship and working relations between Elgort and his The Fault in Our Stars co-star Shailene Woodley. However, neither of them confirmed it. Furthermore, the actor stated that Woodley wasn’t attractive to him and he perceived her as a friend. Ansel explained that there are some sort of chemical things when spending so much time together, but everyone should be disciplined in order not to succumb to momentary weaknesses and save something more important.
