NBA Insider says Knicks are front-runner for Jalen Brunson | SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley

SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley reports that the Knicks remain the front-runner to sign free agent point guard Jalen Brunson but need to clear more cap space to tender a competitive offer. Ian says teams are interested in veterans Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier as possible trade targets which would generate more available space. The Knicks may also be in the hunt to trade for San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray, to pair him with Brunson. In addition, second-year forward Jericho Sims may be signed to a standard NBA contract while an agreement with 2022 second round pick Trevor Keels would be a two-way deal.

I just don't understand why the Knicks are going all out for a player that's not even a top 10 point guard who probably had the best year of his career how about giving the Spurs if the report is true three number one picks they're asking for teaming Murray and RJ together in the backcourt would be a great move but hey I'm not the gm.

Murray is still under contract and Brunson is a free agent. Brunson is a better deal for the Knicks in many aspects. He is a piece of the building block...not a savior of the franchise. Some Knicks fans need to relax and stop suffering from past Knick regimes' mistakes. We have one of the top NBA management teams now. If they resign Robinson, sign Brunson, sign Bamba (veteran's 2 years), and restructure Taj Gibson's and Derek Rose's contracts, they would have done a great job this off-season.

If the Knicks are the front runner for a free agent that should be a red flag. Luka is the PG in Dallas. Where is Brunson rated out of 30 nba team starting PGs...27? His numbers are better than Murray's but I think Murray has more upside and Brunson is what he is ever going to be. He would be great next to a strong wing like Anthony Edwards. I wish we would just play the youth like Detroit, Houston, and OKC and keep cap space the next three years. I really think we are going to be picking 10-14 for the next 10 years.
