I have a theory, what if the first cubone was a baby kanghaskhan that grew up with some kind of disease not letting become a normal kangaskhan and it instead grew up into a marowak which then had a group and there was some ritual where the mother or father would un-alive themselves and the skull would become a helmet for the baby

i had a theory that cubone is actual charmander whos mon dies so when he put on the scull his types change simillar to eevee when i was a mere mortal

Oh I just thought of something maybe why Cubone doesn't turn into a large kangaskan is because of lack of mother's nutrients. All stumpy animals are usually because they didn't get what they needed as babies
