My family has known the Discalced Carmelite nuns in San Diego since 1947 when my mom hesitantly rang the bells at the entrance and the “turn” a barrel like structure turned around and from inside Sister Amata said “Deo Gratias” (Thanks be to God ). From that time up to the present, my family has been privileged to have the prayers of the nuns and spiritual counsel at the monastery.
