The 39th Sir Bernard Heinze Memorial Concert, presented by the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir & Orchestra. Filmed live in concert in Melbourne Town Hall, Sunday 4th December 2022.

The RMP’s annual performance of Handel's Messiah is a much-anticipated highlight of Melbourne’s concert calendar and a wonderful musical tradition. This performance marked the world record 243rd time the RMP had presented Messiah, in an unbroken annual sequence since 1853.

We thought we had a favorite performance of the complete Messiah until we watched this one! Suddenly, we had a new favorite!! We especially appreciated the worshipful presentation, giving honor to our great God incarnate, our Lord Jesus Christ. Beautifully done, flawless. Absolutely loved the pipe organ at the end, "transporting us to Heaven", giving us a little taste of what we have to look forward to when we are taken home to Heaven. The standing ovation and subsequent encore piece was the icing on the cake!

What a delight! I wrote my dissertation to Handel's Messiah. Today for Christmas, I'm writing notes for out two daughters to whom we are giving family books. One is of poetry that our youngest once loved. It should be hers. For the oldest a book called The Edge of Wisdom that belonged to my father. It is both secular and religious scholars. The handwritten notes were Dad's - priceless.
