you haven't mentioned the pasteurization process. You don't want to sterilize the substrate, you want to pasteurize it. The reason is because you don't want to kill all the microorganisms in the substrate, you want to keep some of them to act as a buffer between the contamins.
heat the water to about 175-180 degrees F, then pour it over the CVG mix, test the temperature and it should be above 155 F. Then wrap bucket with blanket to keep warm. I leave sit overnight.

For those around the rest of the world, who use normal measurements ;)

500g of Coco
500g of Vermiculite
100g of Gypsum :)

Great video, shame the USA is still in 1850 ;) lol

How is your field capacity like with the Eco Earth brand? I noticed when I use the same recipe and 4.5 quarts of water with the Eco Earth brand the substrate is too watery when squeezed. Or is that how it is supposed to be?

Trip, great job. I mixed up the substrate as per your instructions I'm wondering since I only used a little of it and the rest is it still in the bucket do I need to pasteurize again? What's left in the bucket I mean for my next project?

Hey man I like what you do, it's all the information up front and straight .but could you set out all the ingredients in the beginning? because it's kind of hard to see what brands and what type it is and everything

How much grain spawn would you use with the amount of substrate in one of those buckets? How big is your monotub? Thanks!

Would adding some manure pellets help out as well considering these mushrooms like manure?
