so there's an occasional form issue that arises when adding a string field, for some reason the field appears on the form double-height. I mean it happened to me on 3 string fields of length 40, while most of the other string fields came out appearing standard height. I read everything on Community and the internet in general and found several articles recommending deletion of the column and field, clear cache, and re-add with a different size. This did not work. I found several articles where the developer having the same experience was told to open a HI ticket so ServiceNow can do some magic in the database. I opened the HI ticket and that's how I learned about this attribute. I was unable to read the PRB report, nor the KB report - they are ServiceNow internal-only.

Solution Proposed:
After further research and testing, I have found you are running into PRB1239150. Unfortunately, the problem has been closed as a "won't fix". However, a solution has been given to resolve this issue.

Resolution: Open the dictionary record of the field and add the attribute "is_multi_text= false" to the record.
