Productivity PLC: UDS User Defined Structures - Custom PLC Tag Groups from AutomationDirect

Показать описание
- The Productivity PLC line has User Defined Structures (UDS). This allows you to create custom grouped sets of similar or dissimilar data types (user defined tag) for organization and programming efficiency. User Defined Structures are a huge time saver. Allowing you to group PLC tags based upon a functional portion of your plc programming or other organizational method. Also if you have a bunch of the same functions using UDS will greatly reduce your setup time.

The Productivity Suite allows for the creation of 1D array of UDS. In this video we show the creation of a simple UDS but Productivity PLC can go even further. Please keep tuned in for more videos on this subject and see just how Productive you can get.

Really cool that AutoDir & FACTS keep coming up with ways to make controller programming more efficient. Even without UDS Productivity takes a fraction of the time to do the same things in AB controllers. Honestly, sometimes I feel guilty at how quickly I can make systems come to life... what am I gonna do with all this extra time that I'm saving? Lol. Thanks Dudes AND a special S/O to the Tech Support Staff @AutoDir-some of the brightest minds in the Automation game!

Thanks for that informative video. Which productivity 1000 components do I need to control the speed and direction of an AC Motor and what will be the required Productivity 1000 program configuration? I am very much interested in learning industrial automation and thus considering purchasing a starter kit for my small project.

Nice video. Just curious what type of structure does the productivity pack these tags in? 8, 16, 32 bit? When creating these structures are there guide lines for data type architecture to maximize processor resources and storage? Example my_struct- dint, bool, bool, bool dint. Does this use 3 32 bit registers for each structure? Also can you nest a struct in a struct? Thank you!

When are you going to implement functions for UDS? This is almost useless without them.

Is it a drive too and can I controller speed of each individual motor to improve productivity and energy efficiency.

Meh. It helps, but without user-defined functions, your code ends up being the same length. Honestly, this only helps with organizing tags, which was already quite easy to do (just create some using excel, or something, and then import them).
