Separation of Church and State prevents government from forcing others to go against their religious beliefs (so long as those beliefs do not cause physical harm to others), but it ALSO prevents religion from ruling a country through the government. It also prevents people from one faith from forcing those of other faiths to adhere to one side. For example, the government has no right to tell a Christian church to provide weddings for gay couples. On that same token, a Christian working for the State cannot say that they will never sign a marriage certificate for a gay couple because, in her position, she is working for the State and must adhere to the laws the state enacts. A State worker cannot force their beliefs onto the citizens, while a pastor is free to enforce the rules of their religion within their religious community.

Separation of church and state is not what is perpetrated on us today. It is to keep the STATE out of the church not the other way around. The ONLY way it affects the State is that there is no STATE religion!

The separation of church and state has nothing to do will banning religion. It means the State can not make the church go against their religious beliefs. Don't get it twisted !!!

Of course the lady on the right would go to some bogus stuff about slavery. God bless the lady on the left for making it clear. Also bless the rabbi for shooting down the straw man.
