my Wife and I, both 33 with about $800k in investments, excluding home equity and rainy day funds. I've always strived to stay on top of my finances, hoping that being disciplined in my 20s would allow me/us to have more breathing room in our 40s+ But now, as life's demands intensify, we're pondering a crucial question: should we bring in a financial expert to help us maximize our wealth?

The average stock in my portfolio has been cut in half, and the only way to make money this year has been to either short or to trade long in very short time frames. I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my dipping $117k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this market?

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274, 800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

when buffet and munger were talking about 100k, 100k had the purchasing power of 1 million or maybe even 10million
that's what all these youtube "first 100k" videos keep missing.

A good example of the power of exponentials is the Human Genome Project. After 1 year, the project had only mapped one ten thousandth of the genome, and the media at the time (that didn't understand exponentials) ran lots of stories along the lines of "This is a ridiculous endeavour, it's going to take 10, 000 years". But it didn't. Because of the exponential growth of computing power, it only took another 12 years (and actually completed faster than anticipated).

It only soars if you make the right choices of course. I hit this mark pretty early on in my career, probably within the first 6 years of working. I've never had expensive tastes or enjoyed going out and spending all my salary on things I don't really need, so it wasn't really all that hard for me to achieve. Don't think that this can't be achieved on an average salary, because thats pretty much what I earned for alot of my career.

Can you explain what you mean by ‘compounding’ where it relates to the stock market? As I see lots of financial YouTubers use the term.

I understand the term when it relates to bank account interest then earns its own interest and compounds that way.

I guess when you invest in shares then reinvest the dividends into more shares then there’s a compounding effect.

But when you talk about the stock market it returning typically returning 7% then you really talking about an increase in share prices. Presumably 7% being a greater monetary value each year. Though that’s obviously not locked in as share prices can go down as well as up.

Am I missing something here? Or is there a different definition to ‘compounding’ than my bank interest example? Thanks for the help.😊
