'Uncomfortable' watching Angela Carini face Imane Khelif in Olympic boxing match

Culture secretary Lisa Nandy has been asked about one of the most contentious contests of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Italy's Angela Carini quit her boxing match against Algeria's Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds.

Khelif was disqualified from last year's world championships after failing to meet the gender eligibility criteria.

Domestic violence at the Olympics. WOW. People die in boxing rings. This is reckless or more like negligence. The olympic committee have a duty of care to all competitors. Id love to see the risk assessment. All the support will disappear when someone dies and its too late.

The Olympic Games are really no different than the Roman gladiator games.
The athletes are given lousy accommodations and face safety concerns. Contrast the expense and glitz of the Opening Ceremonies to what the athletes are afforded.
Only a small percent of these amazing athletes see any recompense for their time, talent, and sacrifices.
