After my previous two videos ft the Russian Piping Tips (linked below) I had a lot of questions about using different kinds of buttercream. In this Russian Rip BC Comparison video I compare American Buttercream, Swiss Meringue Buttercream, a Hybrid as well as some advice when trying to decide if you can use another type of icing.

Great video! I did my own trial when I received my tips with the exact same results, rose tips are better short and tulips are better taller. I always use a hybrid BC, because it tends to please everyone and have had great luck with these tips. Wish we would have had these when I was a cake decorator in a bakery.

Wow! Why all the thumbs down? I am a bakery manager and I loved your video. Guess people just gotta hate. We are using the tips in our Rest. bakery now and people are buying the cupcakes like crazy. I also love using them to deco our petite B.Day and Anniversary cakes. So easy to use and the flowers turn out so nice. I am already planning a special mini cupcake cake for Mothers Day.

I'm glad you did a meringue one because I was wondering if it would work with meringue as it does tend to be a lot softer than buttercream!

it is indeed a very useful video, thanks for sharing. I had tried these tips with smbc but they were kinda floppy but now i see it could be the tip and not the frosting.

I also see that you have a recipe for a stable Swiss meringue buttercream with gluclose sugar. What is the advantage of the gluclose? Have you used that version in the Russian piping tips? Do you find that the cupcakes need to refrigerated to hold the flower design? Is this the same for ABC or The 2 versions of SMBC?
