I remember in the early 2000's footlocker, finish line etc. would have midnight releases. My mom would take me to wait in line for hours to get a sneaker I wanted. They need to bring that back, it was so much more exciting than waiting on your phone for an app to drop the sneaker, just to see the sneaker you wanted sell out before you even have a chance to buy them.

The sad thing is not only are there more resellers more than ever today, but they've simply outnumbered authentic sneakerheads, which is just absolutely sad for the sneaker community.

New to getting into shoes here. 41 years old watching Penny, Shaquille and Jordan growing up I was never into the shoes and never had the money to buy my own, but in a better place nowadays and I have a friend who has a huge collection and is letting me get pairs from him. Thanks for this video you make great content

I was a SoleSavy customer for about a year during the pandemic. Even with their tools and tech, it was nearly impossible to get a lot of releases. I was endlessly frustrated and decided for me that it wasn't worth the $30 per month to be a part of the group because I wasn't winning anything regardless of the trainings and tools. The best part of SoleSavy was the community of people who were willing to trade or sell their shoes for retail. I do miss that part of it, and I haven't ruled out returning to the group.

I’m not a Sneakerhead
I’m a Footwear enthusiast
It’s about the wear

I really enjoy these type of conversations from you guys truly. I'm also glad that resell is slowing down and starting to see more shoes sit in my local spots. This means I can either cop sneakers for retail or wait for them to go on sale. I don't have to be like going on secondary market to spend extra pennies for something I like.

there was a decade curve to this critical hype peak. i was buying and reselling shoes in the mid 2000's before 2010 i could see this reality coming when the shoes began becoming very hard to obtain and people were boosting pricing in store or selectively selling. went cold turkey as someone who loved sneaker culture hosted expos etc. I left the game for over 10 years. I just started buying again in 2022. i'm glad he mentioned the desert elephant because that shoe is the first jordan i bought in over 10 years and it's very slept on but when i wear it out it gets people talking to me. yet they are sitting still months later and easy to obtain. real sneaker heads made the trends by having keen eyes not following blogs and resale value for hype.

As a new comer, who came to the game because of the local love to Canadian Montreal sesame bagels, this was an amazing conversation that gave me some great insights and made me even more passionate about becoming a sneakerhead

Spot on about everything! People find out I review sneakers and I get asked the same questions.

However, some of my favorites are still sitting on shelves and selling for under retail 😂

This is the best video I have watched about this topic on YouTube. Thank you for having this discussion. I’m not a sneaker head. I can’t afford to spend $1000 plus on shoes a month. People are literally just buying shoes for absolutely no reason. Just cause they wanna flex on social media. Then they try and sell them to get their money back. I just like a nice pair of sneakers to go along with my fit. Can’t even have that in my life anymore lol.

Ive been into 4s since high school but now everyone is rockin them and it seems every other drop is a 4. But I ain't mad cos it's made me get on board with other silhouettes. Really loving my 13s and 14s now.

Just heard a rumor that camping out for sneakers might be a thing again. That’s how I remember enjoying this community. You built relationships and just helped other people obtain grails because you enjoy the same passion. I’ve been saying the reselling aspect has been ruining this community for maybe 5 years now. So glad to see the rebuild ❤️

I miss buying the shoes I like when I want. Nowadays I wake up before 7 am PST and I attempt to get the shoe I want. Most of the time I lose out, and that’s a terrible start to your day especially when you’ve had the shoe on your mind since the news broke. I almost quit because I wasn’t getting anything. Now I just fill out every raffle, download every app, and become a member everywhere. It’s a part time job outside of my demanding Trucking career. Hopefully I get the AJ Craft 4’s tomorrow because I liked them ever since I first saw em. 🤞

It’s very true that you have to check stores in person. My heart dropped a few times in 2022 when I found pairs in stock.

For me it's simple, if I am not able to cop at retail then I'll just move on from it.

Chris Great video. So glad the sneaker game has came back to earth a little bit. I agreed with everything your saying. At the end of the day, sneakers are just decent leathers, synthetic components, plastic, and rubber. These thigs cost a lot normally but should cost as much as car payments, rent, jewelry, etc. So glad the resell and hype has slowed. The love for sneakers is about passion, history, memories, expression. It not about resell, limited scarcity, manufactured consumer hype, hyped up colabs.
