Tensions arose outside the UNHCR headquarters in Tunis, as Tunisian police dismantled a makeshift camp set up by protesting migrants from Sub-Saharan African nations demanding emergency evacuation from the country, following inflammatory statements by President Kais Saied.

Earlier this year Saied said migration was being used as a “plot to change Tunisia’s demographic composition”, leading the World Bank to halt talks with the country over the “racist remarks”, and condemnation from the African Union.

Reports by advocacy groups have documented an increase in attacks against Sub-Saharan African migrants following Kaies’ statements.

There is no such thing as illegal immigration unless the migrants are harming the natives, in this case, the migrants are not harming anyone, and the tunisian gov is just bad

Who gave migrants the right to protest
They have no rights unless they reside in the country
By legal means
