My German wife was always curious about the recipe and saw it once while my Turkish mom was doing it. She was shocked by the amount of butter 😂😂😂

My family has been making this pilaf for decades, and for years, they’re like, “we call it pilaf, but I don’t think it really is because every rice pilaf we’ve ever had is nothing like this.” Thank you so much for validating and affirming this multi-decade family experience. We all make this dish for each other. My father makes it when I visit him. My mother makes it when I see her. I make it for my family when I cook for them.

[Since it seemed like you were draining off all of the water, here's a] Tip: I have recently learnt that you can use rice water [amendment: from the washing process, if it's unseasoned and unsalted; any leftover water after cooking in this recipe is definitely neither of the two] to water your plants [amendment, as it's been pointed out to me: your compost with]—still looking into if it's more beneficial for certain types of plants if anyone has more information on that [amendment, continued: still looking into the safety and health risks for your plants of watering it directly onto them]. Zero waste and should act like a fertiliser to them. Humans aren't the only ones who like rice it seems. :)

I like it with the thin orzo the kind that’s like noodles they get nicely toasted and sometimes add corn, peas, carrots and chickpeas 🤤🤤

pilav ile birlikte cacık yemelisin, biz türkler çoğunlukla pilavın yanına kurufasulye veya cacık tercih ederiz🤍🇹🇷

Genuinely curious, why do you wash your rice? I come from a country of rice eaters in latin america. We literally never wash our rice, and it always comes out amazingly!
