Never stop doing afterdrive, it's the show I tune into most on this channel these days.

This show is the BEST. You're taking risk by teasing the right people who I would be having the exact same conversation about with my friends. Seriously, keep it up. This is the perfect level of realness.

A few facts that were missed in this episode.

1. The bailout was passed by Congress not Obama and an emergency loan was authorized in December of 2008.
2. There are two types of bankruptcy, Liquidation and Restructuring. GM and Chrysler could have entered restructuring bankruptcy without needing a bailout as many other companies do.
3. The creditors of Chrysler were forced to take 40 cents on the dollar for their shares, in complete violation of all established bankruptcy laws.
4. 20, 000 workers at Delphi loss most of the pensions in the bailout of General Motors.
5. The Mustang GT350 is made by Ford who was not bailed out. They obtained cash by selling off Jag, Land Rover, Volvo, Aston Martin, and most of their shares in Mazda.

I think we can all agree here, the world needs more Alex Roy!

Also, you guys have been killing it with After Drive, starting to remind me of the golden days of /Drive (as well as Motortrends youtube channel)

Very surprise no-one mentioned Christian Von Koenigsegg or Horacio Pagani. They have completely turned supercar manufacturer on it's head for a new generation!!! Our own Ferdinand Porsche, Enzo Ferrari & Ferrucio Lamborghini.

Gents, this was one of your best content shows yet - I'm sat in an office in London but it felt like I could have been there listening in. Really engaging, very interesting to hear you guys analyse the market and its development. What do you guys see happening if both Top Gear and "Gear Knobs" fail to pull expected numbers - will social media continue to be the forum for enthusiasts, where would it go next?

No mention of David Freiburger!? And what's up with Lawernce Ulrich? He's like rainman... 16:17 "He's not indie, he's not indie, he's not indie anymore." "They don't want to share him, they don't want to share him, they don't want to share him." I was rollin'

Well done! You had me intrigued by 2 minutes, and laughing my ass off at the end! Great cast of characters that interacted well, too!

Also, yea I think you guys are pretty damn influential. It was /Drive shows & Chris Harris on Cars (the orig.) that reignited my love for cars which had waned since I was a kid. I used to love them (orig. porsche turbo on my bed room wall etc etc) and then I got into Rock n Roll haha and sorta forgot about them! But you guys talking about cars and doing your shows /Tuned /BigMuscle /AfterDrive etc etc I then started looking at other vids like Evo's stuff & MotorTrends stuff, then after that I found Shmee150 (don't follow as much but check in on his vids) etc and next minute I'm swapping my diesel for a 370z... then came a M235i and now I'm waiting for an M2. I'll no doubt only keep that for a year or two and try move onto the next thing. But all that came from watching your shows. I reckon it also helped me get back into watching F1 hadn't watched that in maybe 10 years since I was a kid. Now I'm watching it every time it's on, yes it's a procession but the politics is almost as fun to watch as the races. But I think you're also right, without games such as Forza and the Dirt series (which was the first driving game I really enjoyed) I wouldn't be able to test drive the cars I aspire to own in the future haha. Forza & Projects Cars (for the racing at least) has put me off a couple of cars and made me want to own others I haven't thought of. Magnus Walker, he nearly single handedly made me sell my house and move back into my parents just so I could own a Porsche hahaha. I think the influence comes from your side of things, the people who talk directly to the consumer because without that the big companies would be off on a tangent making only "BMW X3 Grand Coupe QuadBike Enhanced Comes with a House wife and a pet Salmon" instead of M2's and M4GTS's as well. Yes the people in control of the companies have influence but without enthusiasts, TV & youtubers having influence, we probably wouldn't still be getting the amount of redinkydonkulously fun cars that are available. Musk is doing a brilliant job and I'm sure the cars are great & are one solution to a problem but for me driving in silence quickly is not as fun as driving in something that's talking back to me, even if it's slower. No interest in autonomy or silent cars.. that's just my opinion haha

Theres a number of small influential people on youtube these days. That dude in blue, Regular Car Reviews, even Matt Ferah. People between 12 and 30 listen to these people. Its hard predicting future influences in such a volatile social environment.

You should also make a video about the most important people in the automotive history, that should definitely include: Karl Benz, Nikolaus Otto, Rudolf Diesel, Henry Ford and Ferdinand Porsche.

What we have here is the classic question of what defines an industry.
Is it the creators/builders of cars, or the consumers/ the people who popularise them?
This stems from a larger point about the industry, do we go out with a bang or fissle out in bankruptcy? because the industry is changing,
What i personally think is that we should resurrect Brooklands (temple of speed). And use definitive testing to show what the cars are capable of. ie 24 hour race Tesla's or something to prove there worthiness as a innovative new technology.
