Thanks for more Infinity!!
Rules-wise, people above have already said most things, other than that models completely block line of site for their whole silhouette, so the Youghat couldn't ARO shoot through the big guy against the camo guy (not that that shot mattered).
And although you start to reference this, do make sure the order sequence is right 1. Basic short skill (move, idle, etc) 2. Opponent declares all AROs(including weapon/ammo type) 3. Declare second short skill. THEN do all measuring, roles and resolve it all.
But on more of a tactical note, try to NEVER be out of cover. Even if you're a big chap (i.e. the penitent), and with suppressive fire, still do it from behind cover. The -3 to hit and the extra armour just make it so so useful.
Can't wait for more.

Dodging with a Camo Token should cancel the Camo State. Camo Tokens are constrained to short moves only to keep the state.

Thank you for these Battle Reports, as it’s always better to learn from someone else’s mistakes.

I'm going to be a bit wordy, so sorry. i'm glad you are doing n5. my group has never played infinity and its cool to see more content of it... with that said i have a criticism (not just to you but to the infinity community in general). there are only 2 types of videos. Corvus belli did a great series of videos for n5 on the core mechanics... and then everything else is directed at existing players and the hyper deep end. While i get thats where the community is, that is also why there is a heavy gate to onboarding new players. compared to 40k when new editions are launched, the amount of new player onboarding content is basically non existent. there are lots of acronyms and abilities that i have to decipher during a video on what they do. i have no clue what makes a good list, i have no clue why factions are unique (sans their astetic and lore), and the majority of videos out there that do talk about it are speaking to existing players on changes between n4 and n5, rather than onboarding a new audience, and i think thats a shame, as i think a lot of people are looking to try a new game. One of you made a great statement in that once you understand what a mechanic is trying to represent then the game is designed to play how you think it should. The thing is there is almost no content on bridging that gap for new players.

NGL I love watching you two stumble through this. Would watch more of it. It's no MESBG but man did it satisfy lol

Don't forget that suppressive fire gives a -3 MOD to anyone opposing it! Its hard to shoot back when you're getting bullets rained down on you. It also gives its own new range band and sets the burst to 3, even if it would normally be different (eg, HMG suppressive fire)

Super excited to see more infinity content rolling out. I’m way too new to provide any rules feedback - literally only played a 3v3 intro game at the time of writing.
All I can say is I’ve been enjoying the spectacle and there have been some epic moments in these recent episodes.

I didn't know you guys did Infinity, and you are even playing one of my favorite sectorials! I hope you guys do more of these in the future!

Excited to see more Infinity content, if you guys get comfortable enough id love to see you at an adepticon event. I run the night event thats a single tournament round for 3 nights.
Couple of notes:
Yaogat sniper is burst 3 with the sniper in active turn (burst 2 native with +1 burst)
Fun things with NCO is you can have your LT in another combat group and still use it.
Dodging as a camo marker will reveal the trooper, in this case when Josh discovered you, you can simply move again. If he discovers you it dosnt stop your movement since it happens at resolution.

Luka your Sin eater is a great aro piece but think of AROs as something will die, so make your opponent have to come to you to then try and kill you, this is essential for shorter range guns.

So happy to see more infinity. Will watch in full tomorrow!

Luka, throwing grenades of any type (not Grenade Launchers but actual grenades) are BS Attack, but you use your PH attribute instead of BS attribute (yes, BS Attack skill is poorly named). It's similar to Flash Pulse where you do BS Attack but use WIP attribute instead of BS.

This board is absolutely stunning. Loving the Infinity content!

So about the smoke grenades interaction - you can use smoke as a kind of dodge.

How it works is that the guy trying the smoke dodge declares that he wants to do so and places the smoke template as usual. He then gets to make a face to face roll against anyone shooting at him with a weapon requiring a roll (so non-direct template weapons) whose line of sight would be blocked by the smoke template. You would use the attribute that the smoke weapon uses for that Face to face roll (so most likely BS for smoke grenade launchers or PH for smoke grenades).

Any shots that wouldn't be blocked by the smoke template (either because the have MSV or because the LoS avoids the smoke template) would roll a normal roll.

If you want the full rules pretty much all of it is condensed on page 66 of the N5 rules pdf

Cool. Trying to learn and get spun up on this rule set so it’s good to see some batreps getting released.

Looking good guys! FYI, if a camo token does a dodge, or any roll other than move, it will reveal itself.

It would be cool for y'all to get into the habit of separating VP which is points of units remaining and OP which is points scored from objectives just to keep things from getting confusing. I like the use of the proxy as that's of one the big things in Infinity that we have a lot of trouble conveying to new players who end up playing bad lists/having a bad time because they "want to use what they have". Overall love the content and really appreciate y'all bringing in Infinity. Definitely my favorite TTG.

Great terrain setup and battle report! Luka if you haven't looked at them yet the third sectorial for Combined Army the Onyx contact force might interest you. They're a nice middle ground between the Morats somewhat aggro playstyle and the bag of tricks you get with Shasvastii. They do and borrow a few profiles from both sectorials but have a variety of other alien races including the Umbra. Speedy murder machines that heal when they wound models in CC kind of like alien space vampires.

Hey dudes @miniwargaming ! keen for more infinity. I cannot wait to dive into n5, haven't had a chance at my LFGS yet.
@2:59 - Love the board layout, a decent amount of cover, and not too dense.

@4:02 - Didn't you say you had a killer hacker? Those count as "hackers" for mission components, as even killer hackers have the "hacker" special rule.

@5:02 - even if going first, never stack your troops like that, like they would in real life. It's a quick way to get with a missle, in active or aro, and lose the game in a single order. I've seen it happen to much lol.

@10:06 - at all times, a fireteam must have a leader. when doing anything in the active, the FT can change who the leader is. Only the leader can shoot, discover, skills like that. The entire team all do the same short actions, like move, dodge, jump, climb, otherwise they idle.

@10:38 - idle into objective order is rough. You should nearly always move (if you are going to)half your first mov value as first short skill, then use the objective. Best case, you get the objective, and have moved. Worse case, you move half to the objective then half back to the same location, and do the objective again. It just helps add a little movement if that's what you want.

@12:24 - keep in mind, with fireteams you must stay in coherency throughout the entire order, checking at both short skills. EVERY team member must be within ZOC of the leader, at all times, or they are dropped per short skill coherency check failed. You can also use this to deliberately leave certain members behind, for free, without making a new FT.

@13:23 - any roll a camo marker makes breaks camo. So by dodging, you'd reveal yourself.

@20:42 - N5 has introduced a lot more "bracketed" rules. I.e. BS attack(T2) - meaning any time you BS attack, you use the T2 ammo, doing two wounds, as per the T2 ammo rule.

@21:19 - supressing that close to enemies, especially morats, was dangerous haha. They are monsters in CC, and have great guns as wel. That fireteam could have easily moved as a team, all touched you in silhouette for CC, and gotten like B5 in CC lol. Great idea, but Supression is way better in cover (you'd be -9 to shoot at), and that way you can dodge prone if you don't like the odds of shooting back.

@22:02 - it's not a F2F roll for a dodge vs discover, as the dodge doesn't obfiscate you from being discovered, or hinder dodge in the event of discovery. The rule of thumb is, if it's not against it, it's not a F2F.

@23:11 - you must always declare you first short skill, which in N5 must be MOV if that's any part of the order. THEN YOU MUST WAIT for the aro to be declared. Against camo tokens, you can delay, and see what they do. If the camo attacks, or breaks camo in anyway, you can aro back. if they just MOV again, you can do nothing.

@23:57 - troopers cannot draw line of fire through other units, friendly or not. As you cannot ARO through a S5 unit, you don't have LOS.

@25:05 - you only suffer the ARO mod of surprise attack if it's affecting you, i.e. you are the one attacked. If a friendly unit is taking ALL the burst from a multiburst weapon, and another unit also has an ARO, they do not suffer surprise attack if no burst comes back at them.

@25:37 - you cannot delay against units not in camo. You declare IDLE, then they choose aro, then you delcare second skill - this way ACTIVE turn has all the power - you can fork the ARO - if they dodge, you can move for free, or shoot them. If they shoot, you could dodge or shoot / hack back, etc.

@29:26 - love game discussion! the hardest parts of INFINITY are: remembering all the actions you can take, and remembering what states / statuses things are in. I.e. remembering if you go frenzy you no longer get cover next game turn, remembering you can cautious move or dodge in your active. The REALLY hard part of infinity is coming up with a good plan, and having good deployment. Deployment is 80% of the game, and a plan only lasts until you get killed. haha.

@30:02 - impersonation! very few units have it though. Less than 3? I think?

@31:47 - what I find helps in other INFINITY bat reps; be clear on what is moving, from where to where. Show top down movement paths with fingers etc, or show the end result movement. Be clear on lines of fire, if able, show top down, or 3rd person over the unit style LOS for shots. Dice rolls are easy, so is using orders etc.

@32:37 - special smoke dodge vs bs attack - it's A F2F roll against all incoming shots - as it's technically a dodge - however the smoke template must block ALL incomming shots, otherwise those are not F2F. Units with MSV2+ are not F2F, as they can see through smoke. To throw smoke is a PH check, with SMOKE GRENADES. SMOKE GRENADE LAUNCHERS us BS check.

@35:08 - warhammer players learning infinity is the best. You can see them learn a game that takes brain power :P jokes aside, I myself started in 40k, nids, hated life. A friend showed me infinity, and I only needed 10 guys to play (!!!) - and I never looked back. That was 2014.

@36:28 - to idenfity models, google 'HUMAN SPHERE IDENFITIFICATION SHEETS' - top result is a great community site called HUMAN SPHERE, and the ID sheets show all minis for all factions, and their names.

@38:44 - the sphinx iirc is the Hidden deploy tag - one of two in the game. However, you cannot ever start a model in deployment while climbing. It's a contested rule, as clbiming plus USED to say "treat any vertical surface like horizontal ones" - but deployement said "troopers must deploy only on horizontal surfaces" - but, that's been cleared up with N5, you cannot deploy while climbing, even in HD.

@40:11 - the avatar got WAY cheaper in n5, but lost some of his toys.

@40:43 - templates, all of them, are now B1 in n5.

@43:51 - Luka you seem like you love technical, but upfront, agressive pieces. You might like;
Yu Jing Invicinble army - think spacemarines, but incredible hackers, and a mix of martial artists and shooters. Part of the most evil faction in the game, YJ!
Torchlight Brigade - similar, dudes in power armor, but the frontier saviours and explorers of humanity. A good mix of tech, with a decent bag of templates and big guns - but lots of command structure.
However, you say you want cheap, but effective;
Ariadna, Tartary Armory Corp, Kosmoflot
Anything in Haqqislam
Those are the two "cheap factions" in the game.

Don't get disheartened boys you're doing well for beginners / returning players. Any questions feel free to tag me or PM me. Love seeing more Infinity content, gives me a reason to watch mwg again!
