BenQ HT2550 Review - A 4K HDR Projector For $1500?

This is a review of the new BenQ HT2550 4K HDR Budget DLP Home Theater Projector. A $1500 it's one of the least expensive 4K projectors. It supports Rec. 2020 HDR as well as 3D. How does it stack up against the Optoma UHD60 and Epson 5040ub?

The HDR performance of this projector is better than the UHD60 when the HDR mode is activated. The colors are more vibrant and the image has more depth than it does on the Optoma. Just keep in mind that it looks best on a screen smaller than 120 inches.

Buy it on Amazon:

Just got a Benq HT2150ST and man it blows my old Optoma GT1080 away. I don't really need 4K for a good while longer. I'm happy enough with how great the HT2150ST looks.

Outstanding review!
Finally the moment I have been waiting years for! An affordable projector with 4K, HDR, RGBRGB CW, 3D and Low Input Lag!
This ticks every box for me and I may soon be considering an upgrade from my Optoma HD25. :-)

Hey Chris what's the difference between that unit and the BenQ TK 800

Which one do you recommend me, this one or the HT 3050 (W2000) ?

I'm looking at getting this projector. My use cases are watching movies at night and NFL during the day. My room has sliding glass door windows, very bright with sunlight. Do you think I need to get a projector with more lumens?

Great video. Can I ask U for advise. Witch projector Will be better in view quality. This Benq or Sony VPL HW45ES? For 4k movies on Netflix, PS4 and FHD Blurays?

Would recommend this or the uhd50? It’s on sale refurb right now for $870 wondering if it’s worth it? Thanks

So how much does the lighting matter? I plan on putting this in the living room which is exposed to light... That being said the majority of movie watching will be done at night with maybe more casual during the day. I do prefer the more accurate color compared to the TK800, but if a closed-in dark room really matters then maybe it's not the best choice? Not sure this will be my first projector.

Hi.. Great info on projectors. Is the optima UHD60 still the best projector under $2, 000 for a dedicated home theater room with no space concerns or light issues? Also looking at at least 130 inch screen.

Hi 1st I want to say I found you when looking at 4k projectors and you do a great job this is the 3rd video of yours I have watched and all 3 are very well made and got likes from me. This projector sounds great, I love that that it has 3d as I have had Nvidia vision and 3rd projectors and its the best way to do 3d is with computer games and Nvidia vision. Tomb Raider blew me away and is rated as one of the best 3d games for me. I currently have a 65 inch Vizio e 4k hdr tv and while I love it I miss having the feel of a movie theater in my home so I started to look at 4k projectors. I think I might end up checking this one out when I manage to save the money thanks to your review, Keep up the great work!

Hi love the channel lots of info just wondering what would happen if I put this BenQ in a room at 9foot slightly closer than suggested will I still be able to get a 120” screen or will it make the picture bad??

Nice review. Hope TI can fix the border issue via firmware. As 3D is a must for me, I'm getting this PJ. Great value for what it is.

Great review! Im thinking of buying this one as my first projector. But Im kind of hesitating because of the grey area around the picture that you and other reviewers have mentioned. Is it possible to remove it somehow? The grey area will annoy the hell out of me, so if its not removable I will just have to wait for another affordable 4k HDR projector. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this review... I was actually going to ask you to review it but thought it wasn't available until the 14th (glad you got one early).

Great review. For gaming, which did you noticed performed best between Optoma UD60 and benq? (Lag and picture)

Majestechs.. Would appreciate how you believe this projector compares to the Optoma UHD65? I am assuming it would be sharper like the 60 and perhaps equivalent colour as they have similar colour wheel?
