👉 We will learn how to make a glowing material in Unreal Engine, with this guide to emissive materials. Create beautiful neon light effects and static geometry that emits actual light in your environments and levels.

I use this in my tutorial on how to do motion design in unreal engine.

Creating glowing materials in Unreal engine is a great technique for animators and designers wanting glowing text and effects in their animations. Learn how to set up your scene with post-processing volumes and important settings like bloom.

We start by making a master material, then from this creating material instances for any number of color variations.

This was immensely helpful. I don't get why it doesn't have more views. Thanks a lot!

Great tutorial. Could you consider doing a follow-up on how to apply this to a specific object instead of to the whole scene - i.e. using postprocess materials with custom depth?

This was really handy! I finally figured I could have a low emissive strength on material instance but boost it other places to let the color remain close to the original instead of turning white-ish. However every time I looked away from the cube the light disappeared. Do you know how to fix that? I'm assuming its something to do with the engine not animating the cube when its not in the camera view?
