Demystifying crypto asset recovery - Aidan Larkin, Co-Founder and CEO, Asset Reality

Presentation by Aidan Larkin, Co-Founder and CEO, Asset Reality, at the 5th Global Conference on Criminal Finances and Cryptocurrencies on 7 December 2021. The virtual event was co-organised by the Basel Institute on Governance, INTERPOL and Europol.

Whilst law enforcement agencies around the world are recovering vast amounts of crypto, they often expose themselves to risk by not having an infrastructure to manage and realise these digital assets. More concerning though is the volume of agencies not seizing illicit crypto at all, missing opportunities to disrupt criminality, identify illicit financial flows and recover assets for the benefit of victims, law enforcement and wider society. This presentation will look at the common international best practice in crypto asset recovery and delve into case studies highlighting the art of the possible in this rapidly evolving space.
